A Message To Garcia

My interpretation of "A Message To Garcia" by Elbert Hubbard is that communication is key. This is because it was in the time of Spanish American War and in any war communication is a major part. I feel like this speaks to me for my first couple days to school because I need to communicate and talk more. I was even told this in my retreat and orientation by teachers and upperclassmen. Not necessarily to talk more but to join clubs and activities and get involved with clubs in my freshman year. I also learned that Garcia was not easy to find and there was one man that was said to be "guaranteed" to find him. This mans name was Rowen and he was told to deliver a message to Garcia so he carried this message in an oil-skin pouch and close to his heart. But there was one problem, there was no man named Garcia that was alive . This is why communication was key, if the word got spread the he had died then then Rowen wouldn't have had to go on this trip to find Garcia. After reading this I learned that communicating is key in everything and that if we didn't communicate we would crash.

  1. Owen, what gave you the idea that Garcia was not alive? According to Hubbard, the message was delivered to him. I agree with your assessment about the importance of communication, but your claim has me puzzled.

Today is the last class of Human Geo, and I have mixed emotions about it. I don't know if I will miss it or not but it was a good year. ...
