Class Notes 9-10-18

In todays lesson I learned that "A Message To Garcia" was written in March of 1899, and it was made into a pamphlet and a book that was super popular. Also, I learned that there were over 40 million copies sold, and that it was made in 37 different languages. Next, it was made into a movie two times and starred one of the most popular actresses at the time, but there was no women that was mentioned in the passage. In addition, I learned what roles everyone was in the passage, I learned that Garcia was a revolutionary against Cuba, Rowen was an Army officer and McKinley was the 25th president of the United States. Finally, that perihelion means "the point when a planet is the closest to the sun," and that slipshot means to be "careless, or lackadaisical." In conclusion, I learned that "A Message To Garcia" was a very popular passage and that it was shared a lot across the world.
