Class Discussion 9-20-18

Today in class we discussed how some people think that we should replace the Mercator Map with the Peters Map. In my opinion I think that we should replace it but at the same time I don't because we have learned the Mercator Map our whole lives. One reason that I think we should replace the Mercator with the Peters map is because on the Peters map the countries and continents are disoriented I size. For example on the Mercator map they make Greenland look like it is half of Africa and bigger than Australia. When in reality Greenland is 14 times smaller than Africa and smaller than Australia. I think that we should switch to the Peters map but it would be difficult for everyone because they grew up learning the Mercator map.
